This is compatible with various ZIP DIP sockets (including "universal DIP" and "contraction DIP").
The mounting flange is used to fix the socket to the circuit board.
The pre-drilled holes in the socket body mate with the screw holes in the socket to firmly fix the socket to the socket (each socket comes with 2 screws).
